An explosion literally pulverized a Michigan home containing six people on Saturday, leaving four people dead and two seriously injured.
Northfield Township police said they were called to Winters Lane Saturday afternoon after a home was devastated by an explosion whose cause remained unexplained Sunday.
An aerial photo published by the police testifies to the power of the explosion which left only the foundations of the house in place. Debris was spread over an area of approximately 2 acres, or 0.8 hectares, police said.
“It exploded like a bomb. I do not know how to explain it. “It’s the scariest thing I’ve ever seen,” a neighbor told Local 4.
“I live about a hundred yards from here and by the time I drove here there was still debris falling from the sky,” the neighbor continued.
Six people were in the house when the explosion occurred. “Three deceased people were located in the residence and three other residents were transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. One of these three residents who were transported died from his injuries,” police explained.
The police force also had to call on citizens of the region to show decency and calm their curiosity.
“Investigators were working on the scene this morning and there was considerable traffic on Winters Lane, hindering the investigation,” lamented the police, recalling that this artery is private and should normally be used only by residents of the area and their guests.
