A man who loves hiking was saved in a spectacular intervention after finding himself hanging from a cliff in San Francisco, California.
The hiker had ventured off the marked trails into a steep area, before sliding on a cliff face, according to what USA Today reported last week.
Rescue teams located the man clinging to a cavity in the rock wall where he remained suspended several tens of meters above the waves.
Alerted by a passerby, the San Francisco firefighters mobilized their cliff rescue unit as well as an H-30 helicopter from the California Highway Patrol.
One of the rescuers managed to secure the victim who escaped unharmed, even refusing to be transported to a hospital, according to local media.
A San Francisco Fire Department spokesperson described the response as a complex mission that required coordination between ground and air crews.
The hiker “was very grateful and thanked us for helping him,” Lieutenant Mariano Elias told US media.
