(Washington) A federal prosecutor who refused to initiate prosecution against adversaries of Donald Trump presented his resignation on Friday, a few hours after the American president publicly demanded his departure, according to the American media.
“I want him to go,” said the republican billionaire, in response to a journalist who asked him in the oval office if he wished the dismissal of the federal prosecutor of the district is from Virginia, Erik Siebert.
The latter presented his resignation on Friday evening, several media reported.
Erik Siebert had recently considered that there was not enough evidence to initiate proceedings for fraud against the general prosecutor of New York State, Letitia James, according to the Washington Post.
Farouche opponent of Donald Trump, Mme James had condemned the president to a very heavy fine of almost half a billion dollars before his return to the White House.
This conviction for fraud had finally been canceled at the end of August by a New York State Court of Appeal, which considered that the fine was “excessive”.
Letitia James had announced her intention to appeal this decision.
According to American media, Erik Siebert also refused to continue another enemy of Donald Trump, the former FBI director James Comey.
Brutally dismissed in 2017, while investigating possible Russian interference in the Donald Trump campaign, Comey is notably accused of having lied to the Congress.
