Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Vajon – in an interview with Manhattan Tribune from Davos – called for an “immediate and permanent” ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, describing the health situation in the Palestinian Strip as horrific.

She said, “We call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and it is very important to deliver humanitarian aid to those who need it,” noting that the people of Gaza lack medicine, electricity, and water, and there are 9,000 children who lost their lives, in addition to more than 23,000 civilians, and this “It is unbearable, and these numbers are unbelievable.”

It is noteworthy that the number of martyrs rose to 24,448 and 61,504 were injured, according to the latest statistics of the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The Slovenian minister confirmed that her country is trying with the international community to clarify that what is happening in Gaza is a “serious violation of international humanitarian law and human rights law.”

She considered that what the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) did on October 7 “does not justify the horrific situation we are witnessing in Gaza,” and she also expressed her country’s concern about what is happening in the West Bank and “the violence carried out by Israeli settlers against the Palestinians there.” “.

She pointed out the necessity of a ceasefire in Gaza in order to “begin negotiations on a two-state solution and ensure the security of Palestinians and Israelis.”

Regarding the moves taken by the Slovenian government to achieve a ceasefire and deliver aid to the residents of Gaza, Vaillon explained that her country is using every platform and its capabilities in the UN Security Council “to emphasize the importance of respecting international humanitarian law and human rights law,” and spoke of “serious violations occurring in Gaza, and this matter cannot be tolerated.”

Regarding Slovenia’s intention to join South Africa in the lawsuit filed against Israel in the International Court of Justice, Faillon told Manhattan Tribune, “There is no current action to join South Africa in its lawsuit filed against Israel,” but she stressed that her country is following the ongoing discussions on this issue, and is ready To provide legal assistance and advice, as it did in previous cases regarding Palestine and Ukraine.

It is noteworthy that South Africa filed a lawsuit before the International Court of Justice on December 29, accusing Israel of committing genocide crimes against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
