A teacher in Missouri, United States, has been accused of sexually assaulting one of her students and asking others to act as lookouts.
Hailey Clifton-Carmack, a 26-year-old math teacher, was arrested last Friday in Garden Ridge, Texas, after fleeing Missouri to avoid criminal charges, the Garden Ridge Police Department revealed in a Facebook post .
According to court documents, the woman who taught at Laquey High School was denounced on December 7 by a student who reported the relationship between the latter and the victim to the school administration.
The young man then allegedly showed the police photos of his classmate with graffiti on the back. He allegedly claimed that these “came from Hailey after the (victim) had sexual relations with her. The witness added that these antics allegedly took place in the driveway of his house, reported the “New York Post.
It would not be the first time that the teacher had been “too close to her students, again according to the witness.
It was finally on December 22, after the authorities obtained a warrant to search the professor’s phone, that the relationship could be proven.
Victim’s father arrested
The story doesn’t end there, however, as the victim’s father, Mark Creighton, was also arrested for endangering the welfare of his child.
Indeed, Creighton was aware of the illegal relationship that Hailey Clifton-Carmack had with her son, but failed to report the situation. The latter would also have admitted to having been made aware of the relationship that the 16-year-old boy had with his teacher while his classmates were on lookout.
The man “knew of the relationship between his minor child and the 26-year-old teacher and, instead of reporting the information, he continued to cover up for them and allowed the relationship to continue (and) even allowed Hailey to come to his residence and see the victim while she was present,” prosecutors said.
