(Washington) A Florida airport received approval Monday to be renamed in honor of President Donald Trump, hours before the latter separately announced plans to build a skyscraper in Miami to house his presidential library.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill authorizing the renaming of Palm Beach International Airport to Donald J. Trump International Airport. This change is expected to take place in July, officially renaming the airport near the Mar-a-Lago estate.

Later on Monday, the US president posted a video on social media that appears to show digital renderings of his presidential library. Accompanied by dramatic music, the video reveals a towering tower rising into the Miami sky, emblazoned with the signature “Trump” lettering found on his other towers.

The video includes panning shots of the tower’s exterior and interior, with a presidential jet parked in the lobby next to a golden escalator similar to the one Donald Trump took when launching his 2015 presidential campaign.

Other plans show a huge ballroom similar to the one he plans for the White House, a replica of the Oval Office, rooftop gardens and a large golden statue of Mr. Trump.

The credits indicate that the design is the work of Bermello Ajamil, a Miami-based firm. Mr. Trump released the video with no explanation other than a link to a new website dedicated to the library. The website says “coming soon,” with a link to donate.

The White House did not immediately respond to questions about the plans.

Miami Dade College donated nearly 1.2 hectares of land located downtown as a donation for the future library. In December, a judge dismissed a lawsuit challenging the donation on the grounds that the college’s board of trustees did not provide sufficient public notice. The value of the site is estimated at more than 67 million.

Mr. Trump’s son, Eric, previously said the library would be “one of the most beautiful buildings ever built” and “an icon of the Miami skyline.”

Since returning to the White House, Mr Trump has insisted that his name appear on everything from the US Institute of Peace and the Kennedy Center to US currency.

In Palm Beach, a stretch of road connecting the airport to Mr. Trump’s estate was recently renamed “Donald J. Trump Boulevard.”
