(Washington) Two people were injured by a gunman who opened fire Thursday morning before being shot dead by police in a building at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, in the eastern United States, the establishment announced.

University and city police and emergency services “responded immediately. The shooter is now dead,” the facility said in a statement, adding that the injured were taken to a local hospital.
Classes were canceled for the rest of the day.
In February, two people were killed and another injured by shootings on the campus of South Carolina State University.
School or university shootings are a recurring tragedy in the United States, particularly due to the ease of access to firearms.
