(Washington) US President Donald Trump on Friday called on the Justice Department to “shame” Democrats who collaborated with Jeffrey Epstein by publishing documents on the late sex offender.

“We just discovered a million additional pages on Epstein. The Department of Justice is forced to devote all its time to this deception orchestrated by the Democrats,” Trump wrote Friday on his Truth Social platform.

“It was the Democrats who collaborated with Epstein, not the Republicans. Let us publish all their names, shame them and get back to work for our country! », added the president.

“The radical left doesn’t want us to talk about the successes of Trump and the Republicans, but only about long-dead Jeffrey Epstein. Another witch hunt! », Estimated Donald Trump, without specifying which Democrats could be cited in the documents.

The Justice Department last week began releasing documents from the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, a wealthy financier who died in a New York prison in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking of minors.

The latest revelations, released Tuesday, contain numerous references to Donald Trump, including documents detailing flights he took aboard Epstein’s private jet.

Once a friend of Epstein, Donald Trump distanced himself after his crimes were revealed and appears reluctant to address the matter, despite strong support within the Republican Party for full transparency regarding the deceased’s dealings.

The Justice Department missed a Dec. 19 deadline to release the documents in full, despite a law requiring it to do so. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche had previously justified the delay by the need to protect the identities of Epstein’s victims.

The Justice Department defended Donald Trump, saying the documents contained “false and sensationalist allegations” against him, transmitted to the FBI before the 2020 election that allowed him to be re-elected.

The department did not specify which allegations could be false, but estimated that “if they had any credibility, they would certainly have already been used against President Trump”.
