(New York) John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, announced his candidacy as a Democratic representative for a New York City constituency in the midterm elections on November 3, 2026, on Tuesday evening, with an anti-Trump speech.

Posted at 11:08 a.m.

In a video posted on his social networks, John Bouvier Kennedy Schlossberg (his full name), 32, believes that the United States is going through “a crisis at all levels”: “cost of living”, “historic reductions in social programs”, “corruption crisis” and “constitutional crisis”.

The candidate describes the president in particular as “a dangerous man” who “deprives citizens of their civil rights”, “reduces his critics to silence” and practices “cronyism” in economic matters.

Above all, he raises the risk of a “third term” for Donald Trump – prohibited by the Constitution, but often mentioned by the Republican – if the Democrats do not take control of Congress.

Born and raised in New York, Jack Schlossberg is the son of former ambassador Caroline Kennedy and designer and artist Edwin Schlossberg.

Trained at the prestigious Yale and Harvard universities, he specialized in political commentary in the media and on social networks, with 1.5 million subscribers on Instagram and TikTok.

The position targeted by Jack Schlossberg, ranked on the left of his party, is currently occupied by Democrat Jerry Nadler. The latter will retire after more than three decades in the House of Representatives.

Several other Democratic candidates have declared themselves to succeed him, paving the way for a primary.

The grandson of JFK, president from 1961 to his assassination in 1963, is one of the supporters of the next mayor of New York, Democrat Zohran Mamdani, a 34-year-old self-proclaimed socialist, elected last week.

Donald Trump’s Health Secretary, Robert Kennedy Jr, is his cousin.
