(Washington) Donald Trump will have a “routine annual medical check-up” on Friday at Walter Reed military hospital, in the inner suburbs of Washington, his spokesperson Karoline Leavitt announced in a statement on Wednesday.
The American president, aged 79, had already undergone a medical examination in April, at the end of which he was declared “in excellent health”, according to a bulletin from presidential physician Sean Barbabella.
The White House announced in July that Donald Trump, the oldest US president ever elected, suffered from venous insufficiency, a circulatory problem that causes blood to accumulate in the lower limbs.
At the time, Karoline Leavitt also responded to speculation surrounding a possible health problem for the Republican president, after the publication of photos showing bruises on his hands.
She then assured that they were the associated consequence of “frequent handshakes” and taking aspirin, “as part of a standard preventive cardiovascular prescription”.
The question of the health of the American president became particularly sensitive at the end of the presidency of Joe Biden, who, completing his mandate at the age of 82, appeared with an increasingly stiff gait and increasingly slurred speech, where his opponent gave the appearance of greater physical vigor.
Donald Trump does not drink alcohol or smoke, but does not hide his taste for sodas and fast-food chains.
