(Washington) Donald Trump said on Tuesday that his administration was close to a financial agreement with Harvard, target number 1 of his crusade against the university world, after which the establishment would undertake to pay $ 500 million.
“We are in the process of approaching an agreement, said the American president, who spoke from the White House. “They would pay around $ 500 million,” he added.
Donald Trump added that the details of the agreement should still be finalized, but that he provided that Harvard pilot vocational educational establishments.
“You know is a big investment in vocational training, made by very intelligent people. And then their sins will be forgiven, “he said.
Asked about these declarations, the oldest of American universities had not responded in the evening.
Since his return to the White House last January, Donald Trump accuses Harvard of serving as a pool for the “Woke” ideology, a term often diverted by the conservatives to dismiss progressive ideas in favor of women and minorities.
A great support from Israel, the president also accuses the prestigious establishment of not having sufficiently protected his Jewish or Israeli students during demonstrations on the campus for a cease-fire in Gaza.
In retaliation, the government notably withdrew from Harvard just over 2.6 billion dollars in grants.
But in early September, a Boston judge, seized by the University, had ordered the cancellation of the freeze on funding, believing that it was akin to “a violation of the first amendment to the Constitution”, which defends freedom of expression.
Note that it was “clear, by Harvard’s own confession, that the university has been gangrenized by anti -Semitism in recent years and could have (and had to) better deal with this problem”, there was however “little link” between this question and the areas of research affected by gels.
However, the United States government announced a few days ago that it had imposed additional restrictions on university for access to certain federal funds.
Last July, another prestigious American university, Columbia, had made an agreement with the administration, agreeing to settle $ 221 million to end the investigations launched against it.
Other establishments have also made dealerships, like the University of Pennsylvania, which has announced that they have prohibited transgender women from participating in women’s sports competitions.
