(Washington) Donald Trump announced on Monday the presentation of the presidential medal of freedom to the former mayor of New York, Rudolph Giuliani, two days after his political ally was seriously injured in a road accident.
In a statement published on social networks, Trump quoted Mr. Giuliani, praised for his leadership after the attacks of September 11, 2001, but which sometimes aroused the controversy for his defense of Donald Trump, the “greatest mayor in New York history and an equally large American patriot”.
Mr. Giuliani recoveries a fracture of a vertebra and other injuries after a car accident in the New Hampshire of which he was a passenger, said a spokesman for the mayor on Sunday.
He was led by his spokesperson Ted Goodman to a rental Bronco Ford when their vehicle was struck by the rear by a Honda HR-V led by a young woman of 19, late Saturday evening, the police of New Hampshire said in a statement.
Mr. Giuliani was struck off from the New York and Washington bar after being found guilty of false repeated statements concerning Donald Trump’s electoral defeat in 2020. He was charged in criminal in Georgia and Arizona for his role in the attempt to cancel the 2020 election, but denied allegations.
Former Georgian electoral employees Ruby Freeman and Wandrea “Shay” Moss obtained a defamation judgment of US 148 million against Mr. Giuliani for his accusations of electoral fraud during the 2020 election.
They said that Mr. Giuliani had relayed Donald Trump’s lies to the theft of the election, which earned them death threats that made them fear for their lives.
