(Washington) The US government announced Thursday to suspend the issuance of visas to foreign road drivers, accused of “endangering the life of Americans” on roads in the United States.
“We suspend any issuance of work visas for commercial truck drivers with immediate effect,” said Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, on network X.
“The growing number of foreign drivers leading to large semi-trailer trucks on American roads endangers the lives of Americans and overnight the means of subsistence of American truckers,” he added.
He did not give any figure to support this accusation, but it is regularly relayed by the supporters of the American president Donald Trump in the name of his policy of “America first”.
The Trump administration has denounced in the past the fact that many of these foreign truck drivers are not expressed or badly in English.
