(Washington) The Department of Justice has agreed to provide Congress with the documents of the survey of sexual trafficking Jeffrey Epstein, said a key elected representative on Monday, announcing a measure which seems to avoid, at least temporarily, a possible conflict linked to the separation of powers.

The documents must be given from Friday to the supervisory commission of the House of Representatives, which issued this month earlier this month to appear in the Department of Justice concerning a criminal case which has long captured the attention of the public, recently shaken the highest spheres of the administration of President Donald Trump and was a constant center of attraction for conspiracy theories.

“The Department of Justice has many documents, and it will take time in the department to produce them all and guarantee the identification of victims and the abolition of all content relating to sexual abuses,” said James Comer, republican representative of Kentucky and president of the Commission, in a press release. I appreciate the Trump administration’s commitment to transparency and their efforts to inform the American people about this case. »»

Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his New York prison cell a few weeks after his arrest in 2019, which the investigators qualified suicide. His ex-partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, was sentenced in 2021 for helping to attract teenage girls so that they are victims of sexual abuse by Epstein and purges a 20-year prison sentence.

The assignment to appear from the Commission of the House of Representatives aimed to obtain all the documents and communications from the Epstein and Maxwell files. It also required documents on communications between the administration of Democratic President Joe Biden and the Department of Justice concerning Epstein, as well as documents relating to a previous Federal Survey on Epstein in Florida, which had resulted in a non-past.

We did not know exactly what documents or how much would be produced, or if cooperation with the congress has reflected a broader change in position since last month, when the FBI and the Department of Justice have abruptly announced that they would not disclose any other document from the Epstein survey after having noted that no “additional disclosure would be appropriate or justified”.

This announcement has placed the Trump administration on the defensive, those responsible since so when appearing questions from the presidential base and showing transparency.

Deputy Prosecutor General Todd Touvd Blanche questioned Maxwell in a Florida court for two days last month – although no report of these conversations was made public – and the justice department also sought to obtain transcriptions of the great jury in Epstein and Maxwell affairs, but these requests have been rejected so far.

A spokesperson for the Department of Justice refused to comment on Monday.

The Surveillance Commission for the House of Representatives has published separately from the assignments to appear at eight former officials of the police, as well as the former Democratic President Bill Clinton and the former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Bill Clinton was one of the many personalities who knew Epstein before the criminal investigation carried out against him in Florida was made public two decades ago. Mr. Clinton has never been accused of reprehensible acts by any of the women who accuse Epstein of aggression.
