(Washington) Donald Trump announced on Monday that he would lead “a movement to get rid of the voting by correspondence”, thus returning to one of his main fixed ideas, when he has never recognized his defeat in the 2020 presidential election.

“I will lead a movement to get rid of the voting by correspondence, and while we are there, also electoral,” imprecise “, very expensive, and highly controversial machines, which cost ten times more than watermark paper, precise and sophisticated, which is faster and which leaves no doubt at the end of the evening on which has won and who lost the election,” Truth social platform.

The republican billionaire announced that he would sign a decree to “help bring honesty in the mid-term elections”, in November 2026, without giving details on the content of the text.

Donald Trump has never recognized his defeat for the 2020 presidential election against Joe Biden and denounced massive electoral fraud, especially in correspondence voting-a widely used method in the United States.

He predicted Monday that his desire to abolish the voting by correspondence would be challenged by the Democrats because, according to him, they “cheat at levels never seen before”.

The Republican had already signed a decree at the end of March to restrict the voting by correspondence and to impose on the American states reinforced controls on the electoral lists.

In the United States, the organization of the elections is of the prerogative of the States, while the Congress sets up a certain framework.

But Donald Trump questions this idea and according to him, the authority of the federal state takes precedence over that of the States.

“As a reminder, states are simply an“ agent ”for the federal state in the count and the calculation of votes. They must do what the federal state, represented by the President of the United States, tells them to do, for the good of our country, “he said on Monday.

Experts had estimated that the March decree represented an abuse of presidential prerogatives. The professor of electoral law Rick Hasen, of the University of California in Los Angeles, had called him as “coup de force of the executive” and associations had announced to challenge him in court.
