(New York) An American federal judge rejected the Department of Justice on Monday to make certain documents of the criminal procedure public against Ghislaine Maxwell, an accomplice of Jeffrey Epstein, believing that there was nothing new to draw.

Posted at 1:04 p.m.

The documents in question concern the testimonies which had been collected in this case before a large jury, upstream of the trial at the end of which Ghislaine Maxwell had been sentenced in 2022 for having recruited young minor women so that Epstein sexually exploited them.

According to New York Judge Paul Engelmayer, a lifting of secrecy on the elements collected at the time before the Grand Jury “would not provide any new importance”.

“The documents do not identify any people other than Epstein and Maxwell as having had sexual contact with a minor. They do not mention or do not identify any customer of Epstein or Maxwell, ”continues the magistrate.

Donald Trump multiplies initiatives to try to extinguish the controversy, which ignites part of his electoral base, which accuses him of lacking transparency in the Epstein file, a financial found dead in prison in 2019 before his trial for sexual crimes.

After having promised his supporters for his supporters in this case in this case at the center of several conspiracy theories, the American president has undergone a return of flame since his government announced in early July not having discovered any new element which would justify the publication of additional documents.

It was in this context that a lifting of secrecy had been claimed on the elements raised by the Grand Jury, a collective of citizens who intervenes during the investigation and reviews evidence and testimonies to decide on a possible indictment.

Another judge will have to judge a request for the same type concerning the great jury composed in the procedure targeting Epstein.

Ghislaine Maxwell, 63, is currently serving a 20 -year prison sentence and has recently been transferred to a penitentiary establishment with a less strict security regime.

The number two of the Department of Justice, Todd Blanche – who is also the former personal lawyer of Donald Trump – recently questioned the former accomplice of Jeffrey Epstein, but did not reveal the nature of their discussion.
