(Washington) Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice, was transferred to a less strict security regime, a week after his meeting with a senior government official and former lawyer for Donald Trump, causing the “indignation” of victims and their relatives.
The death of Jeffrey Epstein, found hanged in his cell in New York on August 10, 2019 before his trial for sexual crimes, fueled countless conspiracy theories that he was murdered to suffocate a stripping scandal of leading personalities.
Donald Trump, who for months promised his base with shattering revelations on this file, underwent a return of flame, including among his most fervent supporters, since his administration announced in early July not having discovered any new element which would justify the publication of additional documents.
In order to extinguish the controversy, the number two of the justice department, Todd Blanche, former personal lawyer of Donald Trump, went last week to Tallahassee, the capital of Florida, where Ghislaine Maxwell served his 20 years in prison, to question him for a day and a half.

“We didn’t ask for anything,” said his lawyer David Markus, adding that “no leniency was proposed to him” in exchange for his testimony.
Ghislaine Maxwell, sentenced in 2022 for recruiting between 1994 and 2004, minor girls so that Epstein exploits them sexually, “was unjustly treated,” he said, denouncing his conditions of detention in particular.
“Preferential treatment”
“We can confirm that Ghislaine Maxwell is incarcerated in the Federal Prison in Bryan, Texas,” a spokesman for the prison administration told AFP, without further details.
“We are raising with horror and indignation against the preferential treatment received by Ghislaine Maxwell, found guilty of sexual exploitation,” reacted in a statement the family of Virginia Giuffre, the young woman at the heart of the scandal involving Prince Andrew, and accusers of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

“Ghislaine Maxwell is a sexual predator who has physically assaulted minors on multiple times and who should not be entitled to any leniency,” they add.
“And yet, without the slightest notice to its victims, the government transferred it overnight to a luxury prison with minimal security in Texas,” they are surprising, worrying about an apparent “attempt to stifle the case”.
An official of the Democratic Party, Tim Hogan, accused “Trump and his administration, while trying to make up the heinous crimes of the Epstein file, to grant favors to Ghislaine Maxwell, condemned for sexual exploitation”.
Bryan’s prison is classified as “minimum security prison” while the one where she was detained in Tallahassee was a “bass prison”.
Asked last week about the possibility of granting a presidential pardon or a sentence switch to Ghislaine Maxwell, Donald Trump had assured “not having thought of it” and that the moment had not come to talk about it.
In addition, a hearing on August 11 of Ghislaine Maxwell requested by a parliamentary commission was postponed Sine Die, reports the Politico site on Friday, citing the elected Republican James Comer, at the initiative of this approach.
Donald Trump provided this week with a new version of his break with Jeffrey Epstein about twenty years ago, after being very close.
The dispute focused on young employees of his Mar-A-Lago spa, Florida, recruited against his will by Jeffrey Epstein, including Virginia Giuffre, then minor, he explained.
Virginia Giuffre committed suicide in April.
