Columbia University concluded an agreement with the Trump administration to pay more than $ 220 million in the federal government to restore research funds that have been canceled in the name of the fight against anti -Semitism on campus, the university announced on Wednesday.

Under the agreement, the “Ivy League” school will pay $ 200 million over three years to the federal government, the university said. It will also pay $ 21 million to settle the investigations carried out by the American commission for equal opportunities for employment.

“This agreement marks an important step after a period of sustained federal surveillance and institutional uncertainty,” said Claire Shipman, university’s in -office.

The administration withdrew fundraising because of what it described as the university’s inability to repress anti -Semitism on the campus during the war between Israel and Hamas which began in October 2023.

Columbia then accepted a series of requests made by the republican administration, in particular the revision of the disciplinary process of university students and the adoption of a new definition of anti -Semitism. Wednesday’s agreement codifies these reforms, said Mr. Shipman.
