(Paris) During his first six months in power, Donald Trump made his Truth Social network an essential channel to follow his moods through his unique style messages.
Hyperactive on this platform from the campaign, the president frequently ahead of his emphatic messages there the official announcements of the White House and his publications on other networks, in particular X, where he was omnipresent during his first mandate.
AFP has analyzed more than 2,800 content published by @realdonaldtrump between January 20 and July 20, 2025, including 155 messages entirely in capital letters and more than half comprising at least one exclamation mark.
Some messages stand out: March 23, to promote his cryptocurrency “$ Trump”, the American president writes “I love $ Trump – too cool! ! ! The best of all! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! », With 19 exclamation points. On April 24, when Russian strikes aim for Kyiv, he addressed the chief of the Kremlin directly with a lapidary “Vladimir, stopped!” ».
Or on July 6, when he published a logorrhea against his former ally and boss of X, Elon Musk, saying he is “struggled” to see him “derail” completely “and” to simply become a disaster “.
Donald Trump also shares many conservative media articles. The most cited are Fox News (101 links), New York Post (51), Breitbart (51): all three have gaps in terms of compliance with the collection and responsible information standards, according to the NEWSGUARD disinformation monitoring organization.
16 publications per day
The president, then banished from Twitter and Facebook for incitement to violence during the Capitol attack, launched his platform in February 2022. His access has since been restored, but his preference for Truth has remained.

Truth wants to “put an end to the assault of the giants of technology against freedom of expression”, according to his parent company Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), which speaks of a “Truth ecosystem” as “one -stop shop for reliable information, not woke, and entertainment”.
The Trump account, followed by 10.5 million users, has been fed there since January with nearly 16 new content on average per day – a rate almost equivalent to that observed on Twitter during his first mandate.
He relates his exchanges with Vladimir Putin, Benyamin Netanyahu or Volodymyr Zelensky; comments on sports news; announcement of customs duties or American strikes in the Middle East; Or attacks his political opponents … most of whom are absent from the network.
Thanks to “Total on Truth Social” Donald Trump “does not have to worry about moderation”, underlines with AFP Darren Linvill, professor specialist in social networks at the American University Clemson.
“He doesn’t even need to repeat his message on other platforms. As soon as he publishes something on Truth, others take it back and amplify it, “he adds.
Even if Truth Social does not reach the hearing of X and it is difficult to know the spread of Donald Trump’s “truths”, often relayed in the form of screenshots or videos on other networks, the latter circulate “at least as much” as when he communicated mainly by Twitter, said the expert.
“Make markets”
Divert attention and dominate the news to deal with media coverage deemed unfavorable: Donald Trump made it “an art” thanks to social networks, judge the historian and communication professor Alvin Felzenberg, who had pointed this tactic from 2018.
With his messages, journalists must “run after a lot,” explains AFP Mr. Felzenberg.
Beyond the media cycle, Truth Social also seems to be a lever to influence the financial markets. On March 10, 2025, while the scholarships plunged, the president flooded his profile of articles relaying optimistic economic analyzes.
On April 9, after several days of world stock market debacle launched by the prospect of a trade war, he wrote: “It’s time to buy! ! ! ». A few hours later, he announced to suspend 90 days of customs duties against several countries, except China. The rebound at Wall Street is immediate and spectacular.
“Truth Social may not have Twitter fire power, but it remains quite influential to move the markets,” said Stephen Innes, SPI Asset Management.
If “the market seems a little desensitized to Trump’s gusts”, Mr. Innes warns: “We will undoubtedly pay more attention to Truth Social” as the deadline of several trade agreements approach.
