Without even having to lift a finger, former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer will receive nothing less than one billion US dollars (C$1.320 billion) in 2024.

The 67-year-old American, who retired in 2013, will receive this tidy sum simply because of the dividends paid by Microsoft to all of its shareholders.

The multinational recently increased the amount of its quarterly dividends to 75 cents per share, or $3 per share per year.

However, Steve Ballmer owns 333.2 million shares of the company, whose dividend value has only increased since it began paying them to its shareholders in 2003.

If we divide the amount received by Mr. Ballmer, that represents US$19.2 million per week or even $2.7 million per day.

In fact, it’s as if the former CEO of Microsoft was making $114,400 an hour just for being alive. It’s as if every minute that passes, his bank account grows by a little more than $1900.

According to the magazine ForbesSteve Ballmer’s net worth is estimated at $111.7 billion.

The businessman is notably the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA.
