A mission of about 60 American companies- the largest American commercial mission- visited Iraq from Monday to Wednesday to sign a number of agreements with the private sector.
The Prime Minister’s Adviser to Foreign Relations, Farhad Aladdin, said that the Iraqi government “has put plans to achieve independence and meet the needs of the Iraqi people from stable and uninterrupted electricity.”
He pointed out that the memorandum of understanding that Iraq signed with “GE Vernova” reflects “the sustainable relationship with American companies that can provide the experiences and services that Iraq needs.” He added that “Iraq is a land of opportunities for major companies to work and invest in them.”

Iraq, the second largest oil producer in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) after Saudi Arabia, uses Iranian energy imports, and is under pressure from the United States to reduce its dependence on energy and gas imports from Iran.
