British Treasury Secretary Rachel Reeves with Ukrainian Finance Secretary Sergey Martinko concluded an agreement to provide a loan of 2.26 billion pounds ($ 2.84 billion) to Ukraine, which is expected to be granted the first segment of it this week, according to a statement of the Treasury.
Peace agreement
For his part, British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer said that his country and France will work to draft a peace agreement with Ukraine for his presentation to US President Donald Trump, describing it as a step in the right direction after a stormy meeting, on Friday, between Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart, Voludmir Zellinski.
Starmer is scheduled to host the leaders of Western countries in London in an attempt to revive the issue of offering a peace agreement. He said that he hoped that a European coalition “of the countries with determination” will come out with a unified position to support Kyiv.
But he said that any ceasefire should be guaranteed by the United States to prevent Russian President Vladimir Putin from invading Ukraine again.
He added to the BBC TV: “In other words, we have to find those countries that are more ready for the initiative in Europe.”
