The Central Bank of Saudi Arabia (SAMA) and Google signed an agreement to make the “Google Pay” payment service available during this year 2025 through the “Mada” system for national payments in the Kingdom.

This agreement comes within the framework of the Saudi Central Bank’s ongoing efforts to enhance the digital payments system in the Kingdom, which is in line with the Kingdom’s vision, according to what was reported by the Saudi News Agency (SPA).

This step reflects SAMA’s commitment to developing a strong infrastructure for digital payments to transition to a society less dependent on cash by providing advanced digital payment solutions that are compatible with international standards, the agency says.

Service capabilities

Users will be able to make advanced and secure payments and purchases in stores, across applications and on the Internet using “Google Pay.” The service will also enable users to add and manage “Mada” cards and digital credit cards easily and securely through the “Google Wallet” application.

According to the agency, “Google Payments service is part of a series of solutions that aim to meet market needs and advance Saudi Arabia’s position as one of the leading countries in the field of financial technology.”
