Starting in the new year 2025, the ongoing war of extermination in the Gaza Strip will have a significant impact on the lives of all Israelis through a noticeable increase in the cost of living.
Yesterday, Wednesday, an increase in the prices of water, electricity, fuel, public passenger transportation, food products, and income and housing taxes came into effect.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (official) said yesterday, “As of this morning (yesterday, Wednesday), new prices have entered into force, which will immediately affect our expenses.”
She explained, “At the top of the list is the increase in value-added tax by 1% to 18%, which will raise prices comprehensively and will be reflected in every transaction we make, from shopping in the supermarket to filling up with fuel and even buying a car or buying a house.”
The Israeli Authority also reported that “the price of electricity was raised by 3% and water by 2%, in addition to an increase in the price of fuel,” without explanations.
She continued, “It is expected that there will be an increase in regular household bills, such as the Arnona tax (housing tax), which was raised by 5.13%, the highest increase in 17 years, due to the war and the need to pump money into the coffers of local authorities.”
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a “genocidal” war on Gaza that has resulted in about 154,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing people, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters. In the world.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority pointed out a series of tax measures that “will lead to a significant decrease in salary.”
Large food companies were quoted as saying that there will be an increase in the prices of their products.
She added, “Products such as bread, milk, ice cream, and chocolate will see a continuous rise in their prices, and the prices of fruits and vegetables, which have already reached record levels, will continue to be affected by fluctuations in the local and global markets.”
She stressed that “the combination of decreased income and increased expenses will cause great economic harm to every family in Israel, and average families will be forced to spend thousands of additional shekels annually.”
The longest war of extermination – which Israel has been waging since its establishment in 1948 on occupied Palestinian lands – is causing huge Israeli costs.
Israel continues its massacres, ignoring two arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court, last November 21, against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant, on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Palestinians in Gaza.
Israel turned Gaza into the largest prison in the world, besieging it for the 18th year. The war of extermination forced about two million of the citizens of the Gaza Strip, numbering about 2.3 million Palestinians, to flee in tragic conditions, with a deliberate severe scarcity of food, water and medicine.
For decades, Israel has occupied lands in Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon, and refuses to withdraw from them or establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the borders before the 1967 war.
