Jeff Bezos wanted to deny the comments made about him by Elon Musk in connection with the American presidential election.
On Thursday, Elon Musk stormed the social network he owns to accuse Bezos of having predicted that Donald Trump would lose the November 5 election, in addition to having taken the opportunity to encourage “everyone” to divest their shares of Tesla and SpaceX. Two other companies that belong to Elon Musk.
Without missing a beat, the billionaire behind Amazon’s successes commented “Nope. 100% false” under the post. To which Musk responded, “I stand corrected,” accompanied by a crying-laughing emoji.
While Elon Musk implies that Jeff Bezos wanted the Republican candidate to lose in the presidential election, Forbes recalls that the latter was not part of the list of billionaires who publicly supported Kamala Harris. He would even have prevented the Washington Posta daily newspaper he owns, to publish an editorial in support of Mme Harris one week before the election.
This exchange is just a new chapter in the feud between two of the three richest men on the planet.
In 2021, the founder of Tesla made a jab at Bezos, declaring that he would send him a “giant statue of the number “2” and a silver medal”. Musk had just dethroned him as the richest man in the world.
As of this writing, Elon Musk sits atop the real-time ranking of billionaires in Forbes with a fortune of US$315 billion. For his part, Jeff Bezos is not left out, who is in third place with a wealth of US$214 billion.
