A Florida mother who accused her 7-year-old daughter of shooting her husband in the head has been convicted of the crime.
After five hours of deliberations, a jury convicted Laurie Shaver of second-degree murder with a firearm, WFTV reported.
Prosecutors said the 41-year-old shot Michael Shaver in the head at their Clermont, US, home in November 2015 and then spent the next three years pretending he was still alive.
It was only in 2018 that the body of the thirty-year-old was found, when the police were contacted to carry out an inspection at the home of the Disney employee.
The remains were eventually discovered buried under a concrete slab in the family’s backyard.
After the murder of her husband, Mme Shaver had appeared on Facebook posing as him, telling his boss he was quitting and moving to Georgia.
The woman maintained her innocence, even accusing her 7-year-old daughter of shooting her husband.
The defense attorney said they were considering appealing the verdict.
His sentence is expected to be announced on November 25. Laurie Shaver risks life in prison, according to the American media.
