Politics appears to have trumped the pleasures of the flesh for many Americans who shunned pornography to watch the presidential debate Tuesday night, according to data from streaming giant Pornhub consulted by the New York Post.
In fact, views on the adult content site fell by 14.8% across the United States.
This decline is even more marked in the pivotal states of Wisconsin, where the number of spectators fell by 22.6%, and in Pennsylvania, where 18.2% of fans shunned the platform.
Pornhub had noted higher than average traffic before the debate began, around 9 p.m. However, this encouraging statistic dropped by 23.5% around 9:36 p.m., when Donald Trump and Kamala Harris crossed swords.
However, traffic began to increase again around 10 p.m.
“It seems that the public has had enough of hearing the candidates and has decided to release the tension,” Pornhub said in a statement sent to New York Post.
