A 44-year-old man is suspected of beating a grocery store clerk to death and impaling him with his golf club.
On Friday, December 8, police officers in Minneapolis, United States, responded to a call of a stabbing at a grocery store.
They found a 66-year-old man “behind the counter with a golf club impaled through his torso.”
Medics arrived on scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he died.
The suspect reportedly barricaded himself inside a nearby building, forcing the mobilization of a SWAT team and bomb squad.
A drone unit also came to the aid of the police, who managed to neutralize the suspect after six hours.
KARE-TV reports the victim has been identified as Robert Skafte. The suspect, Taylor Schulz, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
The victim was found in a pool of blood on the floor of Oakve Grocery. She suffered in particular from injuries to the head, face and torso, where a golf club was lodged.
Surveillance video obtained by detectives shows Mr. Schulz beating Mr. Skafte, choking him and punching him. He allegedly hit him in the head several times with the golf club, then impaled him when the golf club head fell off.
In a statement, Oakve Grocery said: “Robert was the definition of a good neighbor, a true friend and the best teammate. He was the light of the neighborhood and our world will forever be a little less bright without him.”
