A 1-year-old boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert along with his 5- and 7-year-old brothers was reportedly killed in a car crash Thursday after the suspect allegedly refused to stop for police.
“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones who are grieving this morning. This is an unimaginable tragedy,” Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate said in a statement, according to ABC News Thursday.
On Thursday morning, Virginia State Police issued an Amber Alert to find three young children believed to have been abducted by their father, Dana Plummer, 36, after two women, an adult and a minor, were stabbed on Wednesday night, the American media reported.
According to police authorities, the suspect allegedly fled with the three children after attacking the two women, in what was believed to be a “domestic” incident.
Despite their multiple injuries, the two victims are in a stable condition, according to the police.
For his part, the suspect was reportedly located on Thursday morning on a highway towards Maryland, where he refused to stop at the sight of police sirens.
It was then that he allegedly lost control of the vehicle before causing a collision with the three young children on board, causing the death of the youngest, Za’riyah Plummer, at the age of 1.
The 30-year-old was arrested and charged with domestic violence, aggravated battery, parental kidnapping and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to ABC News.
