A U.S. Postal Service employee was caught throwing boxes containing mail and packages into a dumpster in Nashville, Tennessee.
The video of the young United States Postal Service (USPS) postal worker unknowingly filmed emptying several boxes of packages and letters quickly went viral on social media.
In the video shared on Instagram, the employee can be seen busy packing the mail into a container, hiding it, before returning to his truck to look for other boxes that he placed in a second container.
“He’s throwing mail, federal mail, into the dumpster. He’s looking around while he’s doing it!” the woman who filmed the bizarre scene said indignantly, before adding: “Please tell me this is illegal.”
The images shared on Instagram sparked an avalanche of comments denouncing the behavior of the postman who allowed himself to throw away “people’s mail, their salaries, their bills,” according to the young woman.
“I worked for the USPS and they warned me that if you throw away mail, you could go to jail,” one visibly shocked user said, according to local TV station WSMV4.
According to the American media, the dishonest postal worker was suspended while the investigations of the inquiry opened by the office of the inspector general of the USPS, which had become aware of the controversial video, are carried out.
