A Nebraska woman in her 70s who was pronounced dead by hospice staff suddenly began breathing at the funeral home where she was taken.
“This is a very unusual case. I’ve been doing this job for 31 years and nothing like this has ever been done until now,” the chief deputy of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said at a press conference, according to USA Today. Tuesday.
After the advice of the establishment’s doctor, Constance Glantz, 74, was transferred Monday to the funeral home where an employee who was going to do what was necessary in preparation for the funeral had discovered open-mouthed that the septuagenarian was breathing.
The retiree was then transported to a hospital center where her death was truly pronounced this time, while the authorities opened an investigation into this far-fetched story, continued the American media.
“The Sheriff’s Office would like to extend its condolences to Constance’s friends and family. Lancaster County Prosecutor Pat Condon has requested an autopsy which will be performed today,” responded the chief deputy of the sheriff’s office.
“I can’t imagine what her family had to endure and we are really, really sorry for them,” added the same official, immediately dismissing any responsibility from the funeral home which discovered that the septuagenarian was alive.
