Real estate mogul Larry Connor is collaborating with Triton Submarines co-founder Patrick Lahey to design a device that will allow him to tour what remains of the famous ocean liner that sank in the Atlantic Ocean in 1912.

“I want to show people around the world that although the ocean is a very powerful force, it can be fun and wonderful to venture out into it if you do it the right way,” the man said. of Ohio.

“He called me and said, ‘You know, what we need to do is build a submersible that can dive to where the Titanic is repeatedly and safely, to prove to the world that it can be done and that the Titan was just a thing,” said Patrick Lahey.

Connor and Lahey therefore want to build a two-seater submarine which would be called the Triton 4000/2 Abyssal Explorer. The latter, whose manufacturing cost is estimated at approximately 27 million Canadian dollars, should have the capacity to descend to a depth of 4,000 meters, or approximately 200 meters further than the point where the wreck of the Titanic is located.

In June 2023, five billionaire explorers lost their lives aboard the OceanGate submersible Titan.

The investigation revealed that designers cut corners when manufacturing the craft, causing it to implode and the gruesome deaths of its occupants.

According to OceanGate CEO Patrick Lahey, Stockton Rush took too many risks by using experimental materials and designs, including carbon fiber, to build the Titan.
