A New York liquor store owner faces 7 years in prison for beating up a would-be thief.

Francisco Valerio, owner of Franja Wine and Liquors in Ridgewood in the Queens borough, caught two people stealing bottles of liquor from his store around 7:40 p.m.

After the thieves were kicked out by the 53-year-old, the situation escalated when one of the thieves kicked in the store door. A fight broke out between an employee and one of the looters.

Finally, Mr. Valerio, who had pulled out a gun, hit the thief in the head.

The homeowner was charged with assault, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a firearm.

Mr. Valerio is asking prosecutors to drop the charges against him.

According to information from Fox News.
