Two suspects are actively sought for damaging ancient rock formations at a protected site on Lake Mead, Nevada.
Footage from a video that has gone viral on social media shows two individuals in a large recreational area of the ancient rock formations of Lake Mead having fun dropping large pieces of rock.
The rocks then fall in a cloud of dust in front of the wild eyes of the daughter of one of the two acolytes who almost fell when losing their balance, according to what CNN reported on Monday.
A call for witnesses has been launched to identify the two suspects suspected of vandalism for having caused irreversible damage to these rock formations, who risk a prison sentence and heavy fines.
“Why the hell do this to such a beautiful place? This is one of my favorite places in the park and they are destroying it. I don’t understand,” protested John Haynes, spokesperson for the recreational zone, speaking to KVVU, affiliated with the CNN network.
Haynes encourages visitors to document what they see and gather information that can help rangers identify unruly people and report them to park authorities.
