The OJ Simpson trial, nicknamed the “trial of the century” could have its equivalent in the 21st century, according to the former president of the International Union of Lawyers (UIA) and former assistant prosecutor in New York, Stephen L. Dreyfuss .

“I suppose eventually one of Donald Trump’s trials – assuming it’s televised – could rival the OJ Simpson trial a bit, but that’s to be seen in the coming months,” mentioned the lawyer in an interview with LCN.
Mr. Dreyfuss also returned to the legendary OJ Simpson trial and the importance that this cause had in the United States.
“It was a moment of racial division within America that was quite extraordinary. I remember my large building where I had my office at the time… When the verdict was to be rendered, there were hundreds of people in the lobby of the building where the owner put up screens video. When it was announced, there was the black audience who shouted with joy and the white audience who withdrew without saying anything,” he says.
This anecdote is representative of the general reaction of Americans at the time, underlines Stephen L. Dreyfuss.
He recalls polls which showed that members of the African-American community believed the accused innocent, while most whites believed in his guilt.
“What is interesting is that more recently, I read that polls were done again and now, even the black majority thinks that in the end, he must have been guilty,” says Mr. Dreyfuss.
