A 32-year-old Colorado man is accused of ejaculating on food items at his workplace and committing other sex crimes.
Fort Collins police became interested in the suspect’s activities when officials received reports that a man was visiting local coffee shops and “behaving in a lewd manner with employees and customers” from there. In the summer of 2023, several American media reported.
Police told KMGH-TV one of the victims was a minor.
Officers identified the suspect as Stephen Masalta and arrested him in February.
In a press release issued March 14, police said they reviewed digital evidence found at the suspect’s home and determined he had committed other crimes.
Mr. Masalta worked at a Safeway supermarket for two months, from December 2023 to February 2024. During his shifts, he allegedly masturbated and ejaculated on food products that were not commercially sealed.
Mr. Masalta was charged with 14 counts of indecent assault, two counts of attempted indecent assault, four counts of attempted unlawful sexual contact and 16 counts charged with attempted sexual assault of a child.
In a statement obtained by KMGH, a Safeway spokesperson lamented the situation: “At Safeway, the safety of our customers and associates is our top priority. “We are deeply concerned about the allegations against our former employee and are cooperating with the Fort Collins Police and Health Department in the ongoing investigation into this incident,” a spokesperson told KMGH in a statement. from Safeway.
