Canadian actor Kenneth Mitchell, known notably for his roles in “Star Trek: Discovery” and “Captain Marvel,” died Saturday at the age of 49.
His family made the announcement in a post on their Instagram account.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, a beloved father, husband, uncle, son and friend,” it said.
Mr. Mitchell was born in 1974 in Toronto.
He was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2018.
The actor has more than 50 roles in television series or films, including “Captain Marvel,” “Jericho” and “Miracle.”
He also played five different roles between 2017 and 2021 in the series “Star Trek: Discovery”.
