A motorist was literally catapulted out of his car several meters into the air after a rollover ended his attempt to flee the police, while a baby was in his car.
According to what North Olmsted, Ohio, police explained to local media, it all started on Sunday when a patrolman wanted to intercept a vehicle that was driving without a license plate.
Rather than stop, the motorist decided to flee with the police on his heels. The driver even reached speeds exceeding 80 miles per hour (129 km/h), we see in a video taken from the passenger compartment of the patrol car and transmitted by the police.
At one point, we can see an agent throwing a studded mat under the fleeing vehicle, without success. The pursuit ends when the driver loses control of his vehicle, which begins to roll over in the snow.
The video shows the driver being thrown a few meters into the air, before falling heavily to the ground. He escaped with significant but non-life-threatening injuries.
While surrounding the suspect, the police noticed that a baby barely a year old was in the vehicle, still harnessed in his seat. Despite the spectacular side of the swerve, the child did not appear to have been injured, the first responders noted.
The investigation revealed that the driver, Antoine L. Lindsey, 30, was in possession of an illegal weapon. He will face various charges, including firearms, failing to comply with a police officer’s order and endangering the life of a child.
