The Israeli Broadcasting Authority quoted informed sources as saying that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken that Israel would establish a “deep security zone” inside the Gaza Strip the day after the war and would assume security monitoring in the Strip.
She added that the Israeli security services are preparing to eliminate Hamas leaders around the world when the war in Gaza calms down.
While Reuters quoted Ofir Falk, foreign policy advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as saying, “The plan contains more details than that. It is based on a three-level operation for the next day (to eliminate) Hamas.”
Explaining the position of the Israeli government, he said that the three levels include destroying Hamas, disarming Gaza, and eliminating extremism in the Strip.
He added, “The buffer zone may be part of the disarmament process.” He refused to provide details when asked whether these plans had been raised with international partners, including Arab countries.
Reuters also quoted an unnamed Israeli official that the study of the idea of the buffer zone is still ongoing and it is not currently clear how deep it is, and that it may reach one kilometer, two kilometers, or hundreds of meters inside Gaza.
Washington’s position
The agency also quoted an American official as saying that Washington opposes any plan that would reduce the area of Palestinian lands.
The agency said that the Arab countries reject Israel’s goal of eliminating Hamas and describe it as impossible, saying that the Palestinian movement is more than just an armed force that can be defeated.
No Arab country expressed its willingness to manage Gaza in the future, and most of them strongly condemned the Israeli attack, which killed more than 15,000 and destroyed large areas of urban areas in the Strip.
On October 7, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood and launched an attack on Israeli areas surrounding the Gaza Strip, in response to the ongoing Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people.
While the Israeli occupation army responded with an intense air, land and sea war on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the martyrdom of more than 15,000 Palestinians and the injury of 37,000 others, while thousands of martyrs’ bodies remain under the rubble.
