A small plane crashed Thursday on land hosting a mobile home park in Florida, in the southeast of the United States, killing three people, according to the American civil aviation regulator.
One person on board the plane, as well as two people on the ground, died in the accident, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) report said Friday.
The collision occurred at 7:27 p.m. local time (00:27 GMT Friday) in the Clearwater metropolitan area. “The plane crashed into a mobile home site under unknown circumstances,” and there was “a fire following the crash,” the report noted. There was only the pilot on the plane, according to the agency.
Firefighters quickly arrived on site and were able to extinguish the fire caused by the falling aircraft.
A fourth person was injured, according to the fire chief. The residents of the other houses left their homes safely.
The small plane was a single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza V35, the US civil aviation regulator reported. The pilot reported an engine failure before the accident, according to the same source.
