Palestinian data reported, on Sunday, that the Israeli army carried out 58 demolition operations targeting Palestinian facilities and property in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, during last January, at a time when the number of arrests rose to 6,512 since October 7, 2023.
According to a monthly report by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority (governmental), the occupation authorities carried out 58 demolition operations, including 22 inhabited homes, two uninhabited homes, and 16 agricultural facilities, during last January.
The authority added that the demolition operations were concentrated in the governorates of Hebron, Bethlehem, Jerusalem and Qalqilya, also noting 26 notifications of the demolition of facilities during the same month.
The report also monitored 1,593 attacks, of which the occupation forces carried out 1,407 attacks, while settlers carried out 186 attacks.
According to the report, the settlers’ attacks included the uprooting and burning of a total of 836 trees, including 473 olive trees, the theft of more than 70 heads of cows, and 9 thefts of farmers’ equipment, 3 mobile homes and an agricultural tractor.
The Supreme Presidential Committee for Follow-up of Church Affairs in Palestine condemned the attacks on Islamic and Christian sanctities, and called on the United Nations and the Security Council to “end the fascist crimes” of Israel.
For its part, the Prisoners’ Affairs Authority (governmental) and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club (Ahli) said in a joint statement that the total number of Israeli arrests in the West Bank has risen to 6,512 since October 7, after 14 Palestinians were arrested early on Sunday.
The two institutions stated that the arrest campaigns are accompanied by widespread abuse and severe beatings, and that the data includes those who were kept in detention by the occupation, or those who were later released.
With the start of the devastating war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Israel escalated its operations in the West Bank, leaving 381 martyrs and about 4,400 wounded. Israeli government ministers also took a number of decisions, which prompted the settlers to increase their attacks against the Palestinians and their property, most notably the arms distribution plan that National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir is implementing it, and the buffer zones plan around the settlements is being pursued by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
