An eight-year-old boy from Arizona was accidentally shot and killed at a target practice range where he had traveled in a four-wheel drive vehicle, several American media report.
A few days before Christmas, the family of young Bradley John Shockley experienced the horrible tragedy of seeing the child lose his life Monday afternoon.
Bradley was riding in the back of a friend’s all-terrain vehicle when he was struck in the chest by an air rifle projectile. The two young people had gone to an area which should be avoided since shooters were using the space to practice shooting at targets.
The eight-year-old boy was hit by a 22-caliber lead projectile; he was quickly taken to the hospital where he died within an hour.
“It was a real accident and he was killed tragically,” his mother Ella Scofield said in an interview with Fox 8 news channel.
The latter assures that she has no anger towards the people who were shooting in the training ground; she also affirms that they were particularly shaken by the accident.
“We want them to know that we have no hard feelings against them; we love them very much and their children are always welcome at our home.
A crowdfunding campaign was launched on the GoFundMe site to help Bradley’s family. In 5 days, nearly 18,000 US dollars were raised.
