A 22-year-old woman was fatally stabbed Tuesday evening in a neighborhood in Manhattan, New York.

The New York Police Department was called shortly after 10 p.m. for a woman, whose identity has not been specified, who was stabbed in the Midtown neighborhood.

When the police arrived on scene, they located the victim who was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to what the “New York Post” reported.

The young woman had serious chest injuries, police said, adding that no one else was injured and no suspects were arrested, while the investigation continues.

Witnesses reportedly told police they saw a woman wearing a white shirt and blue jeans fleeing the scene after the attack, it was added.
