A few days after his first debate against Kamala Harris, Republican Donald Trump announced that he would not participate in a new televised confrontation with the Democrat, but is it really profitable for him?

A new poll released Friday morning shows that Kamala Harris has a narrow 5-point lead over the former president, with 47 percent of the vote in this very tight race.
The Democratic candidate, however, would not have climbed in the polls since it would be more Donald Trump who would have declined after his performance on Tuesday evening, analyzed Luc Laliberté, specialist in American politics.
“What Donald Trump has to deal with is polls that are not favorable to him and the image of a candidate who has been dominated by his opponent,” the expert stressed in an interview with LCN on Friday.
If the Republican has ruled out the idea of another debate, it would not be the best idea, believes Mr. Laliberté, who points out that “you are only as good as your last move.”
The emergence on social media of memes and video montages that show “Donald Trump as the one who is afraid, the one who is backing down, the one who is shirking or worse, the one who has been dominated by Kamala Harris” may also not work in his favor.
“At some point, his strategists and many Republican Senate members believe he should have another debate,” the expert said.
