Kamala Harris’ honeymoon seems to be coming to an end: the latest polls indicate that the two candidates are neck and neck, even giving Donald Trump a one-point lead in voting intentions.

“So far, everything indicates that this race for the White House will be the closest fight in the history of American politics,” notes journalist Pierre-Olivier Zappa “in light of the latest polls.”
However, it is once again in the key states that the fate of the presidential election will truly be decided on November 5.
“We may see that on a national scale, Donald Trump leads by one percentage point in one poll or that Kamala Harris leads by two points in another poll, but the reality is that on the ground, in the key states, the states that will determine the outcome of the election, the battles are head to head,” explains the host on TVA Nouvelles.
In these famous swing states, The winner is very often determined by a margin of 1 to 3%, which means that the results are within the margin of error of the polls.
So far, polls indicate that a candidate is above 3% in only two of these key states: Wisconsin and Georgia.
In Wisconsin, Democrats are leading by 3 to 5 percent, while in Georgia, Republicans are leading by a similar margin.
Beyond those two states, in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada and North Carolina, the two candidates are virtually tied.
Harris seen more left than Trump is right
Thus, many believed that Kamala Harris had taken a comfortable lead after announcing her candidacy, but these gains seem to have been erased or at least significantly diminished, notes TVA Nouvelles contributor Stéphan Bureau.
“There is one certainty: the honeymoon is over for Mme Harris and for the Democrats after a month where they have been on a high note. We seem to have reached the peak,” he notes.
According to the political analyst, Donald Trump would be regaining his strength by embodying renewal more than his opponent, while, strangely, he was already president.
“Mme Harris, with the very important voters, the Latin Americans and the African Americans, did not achieve the historic goal of winning and (…) Mr. Trump, who was laughed at a lot with his “Kamala comrade” and all that, probably succeeded in defining the character of Mme Harris, who is now seen as being more left-wing than Mr. Trump, is seen as being on the far right,” explains Mr. Bureau. “So, the last few weeks have perhaps been more profitable than we imagined (for Donald Trump) and also, on the margins, the Republicans have started to slowly rise again.”
