Marco Troper, the son of former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, was found dead in his residence at the University of California Berkeley earlier this week.
Tuesday afternoon, the man who was in his first year at the prestigious American university lost his life following an overdose, according to his grandmother.
In an interview with SFGATE, Esther Wojcicki said she believed it was drugs that killed her grandson.
“He took a drug and we don’t know what was in it. “There’s one thing we know: it was drugs,” she said.
The family is still waiting for the toxicology report to receive confirmation of the young student’s cause of death, but his loved ones may have to wait up to 30 days before having this information.
According to a university spokesperson, Marco Troper was found unconscious around 4:23 p.m. Resuscitation measures were undertaken, but the young man’s death was confirmed on site.
