A high school student who caused panic among school staff by walking to class with a gun in his schoolbag has been arrested by police in New York.
The young student was carrying a 9 mm automatic pistol when he was searched Wednesday morning by security officers at Curtis School in the Staten Island borough.
School officials believed the teenager was carrying a bladed weapon after being informed the day before, but the student had already left the school after class.
Police authorities have not confirmed whether the gun found on the young student was loaded or not, but no one was injured, according to the New York Post.
The suspect was taken into custody pending questioning for possible charges, local police said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
