A 14-year-old boy was shot and injured Sunday evening in the schoolyard in a neighborhood of Brooklyn, near New York.

The victim was hit in the left foot by a gun projectile while he was around 5 p.m. in the playground near the Isaac Bildersee school in the Canarsie district, according to the “New YorkPost.”

The young boy was rushed to a hospital where he is in stable condition, according to the police who do not know if the victim had been the target of any threats previously.

No suspects have been arrested at this time, according to the New York Police Department, which is still investigating the exact circumstances surrounding this shooting, the local newspaper continued.

The courtyard where the shooting took place is adjacent to the Isaac Bildersee school and has several play areas, including a running track and a handball stadium, open to young people in the neighborhood, added the American tabloid.
