The Israeli economic website Globes said that what it called the preemptive strike that Israel launched at dawn on Sunday against the Lebanese Hezbollah cost about 120 million US dollars.
The website quoted a senior official in the Israeli defense industries as saying: “About 4,000 JDAM bombs were used, each costing $25,000.”
The official estimated the cost of operating about 100 fighter jets for six hours at $18 million, and said that operating drones for 12 hours costs about $1.08 million.
This morning, Israel launched dozens of raids on areas in southern Lebanon, in response to an attack carried out by Hezbollah against military bases and sites in revenge for the assassination of its military commander, Fouad Shukr, in an Israeli raid at the end of last July.
The Israeli Army Radio reported that “100 Israeli warplanes” participated in the attack on more than 200 targets in Lebanon.
Israel said it thwarted Hezbollah’s attack with Israeli strikes, but the group insisted its missiles and drones hit targets deep inside Israel, including a high-profile target that has yet to be identified.
