20% of young Americans have a positive opinion of the mastermind of the September 11, 2001 attacks, Osama bin Laden, according to a poll conducted on behalf of the Daily MayL.

The survey, conducted among 1,000 American citizens by the firm JL Partners, reveals that among 18 to 29 year olds, one in five people say they have a positive opinion of the terrorist leader killed by an American commando in 2011.

Within generation “Z”, only 51% of respondents said they had a negative opinion of the person who claimed responsibility for the attacks that cost the lives of 2,977 people in 2001.

While 31% approve of the opinions expressed by bin Laden, 8% of young people aged 18 to 29 even go so far as to applaud his actions.

Families of victims of the attacks 22 years ago say they fear the “evil” actions committed by Osama bin Laden will quickly be forgotten.

They are urging schools to teach children more about the history of these attacks and to inform them about those who are responsible for these attacks. They also call on the American government to clearly explain Saudi Arabia’s role in the 2001 attacks.
